Management over the Internet

The nerve centre of our access control solution is 2N Access Commander. Use it for managing access to the building and monitoring the status of 2N access devices in real time. Its intuitive user interface lets you set up the system quickly and delegate everyday activities directly to the customer.

You can easily manage 2N IP Intercoms and 2N Access Units with 2N Access Commander over the Internet as well as 2N Access Commander web interface itself. Since all of them behave like any standard IP device, you can use standard network techniques for interconnection.

Prerequisites

  • 2N Access Commander, no additional license is required.

  • 2N IP Intercom or 2N Access Unit, no additional license is required.
Device is connected to different network than 2N Access Commander.

Manage 2N IP devices with 2N Access Commander over the Internet

  • NAT and Port forwarding

    • Since connection is established from 2N Access Commander to each 2N IP deviceall 2N IP devices must be reachable over the Internet.

    • In standard environment, such 2N IP devices will have private IP addresses and only one shared public IP address actually reachable from the Internet.
You need to use NAT / Port forwarding on the site with 2N IP devices (SITE B and Router B on the image below).
Each 2N IP device listens on port 443 for an incoming connection.
You do not need to perform this action on SITE A, just make sure that 2N Access Commander is allowed to access the Internet.

    • When network configuration on SITE B in our example is set correctly, you can add each 2N IP device from SITE B to 2N Access Commander on SITE A manually using SITE B´s Public IP and assigned Public port in the format <Public_IP_address>:<Public_port_number>.
The device scanner inside 2N Access Commander cannot be used in this scenario.

    • With its specific implementation on your sites and network devices, any company network administrator will be able to help you.

    • Site-to-site VPN

      • Connects two portions of a private network or two private networks.
For example, this allows to have routed connections with separate offices, or with other organizations, over the Internet.

      • Both 2N IP devices and 2N Access Commander can act as in the same local network.
