Licensing since the version 2.0 in 2N Access Commander
The nerve centre of our access control solution is 2N Access Commander. Use it for managing access to the building and monitoring the status of 2N access devices in real time.
Since the version 2.0, new license tiers are used
What will happen to my licenses after updating from version 1.17 ? Click to see the answer.
- When updating 2N Access Commander to version 2.0, the following warning has to be confirmed:

- After the update, you will see another warning regarding the possibility of automatic switching to the relevant license according to the new model. After clicking the presented button and confirming next information, the license is renewed. The new license covers the existing number of users and devices and the given functions.

If a licensed device has ever been added as a licensed one in 2N Access Commander 2.0 or higher, the license will be renewed automatically without the warning.
If you try to add a new device or user that no longer "fits" into the current license, you will be prompted to order the corresponding (higher) license.
Where can I find information about the license in use:
The web interface of the 2N Access Commander > Settings > Licenses (see picture below).
The section shows the number of available (remaining) of the total number of owned licenses for device management, users and users with extended rights.
At the same time, the date of uploading the last license is indicated here. Each additional uploaded license will replace the original one. Licenses do not add up.
Version 3.0+
- In virtual machine, upon initial installation, a trial license is available with a free conversion to the Basic license tier after which the advanced functions will be unavailable. The trial license cannot be reactivated.
- In Access Commander BOX, upon initial start, the Basic license is available. The BOX does not support trial license.

- Then you can select from Advanced, Pro and Unlimited tiers requiring purchasing.

How to get the license
- Select one of the connected devices (2N IP Intercom or 2N Access Unit) and send its serial number to your distributor together with information which license tier you would like to get.
- A license file will be generated, after uploading the file.
The license will be valid as long as the licensed device is connected (the device serves as a hardware key).
Uploading the license file
- The Settings - License section allows you to upload a new license by loading the license file from your local disk.
Each additional uploaded license will replace the original one. Licenses do not add up.
Suspension of the license
- The license may be suspended if the license device is disconnected from 2N Access Commander for a longer period of time. When the license is suspended, all devices switch to the inactive state.
- The time for which 2N Access Commander will be functional depends on the time for which the licensed device was connected. The longer it has been connected, the longer it has to be reconnected. The date and time when the license is suspended are displayed in the license overview.

- The license can be reactivated by reactivating the device, to which the license is bound, to the active state. After activating the licensed device, all others will be activated. If you upload a new license, you must first activate the device on which the new license is generated. After activating the licensed device, all others will be activated.
