The Radio Equipment Directive (RED) and 2N: what you need to know
2N and RED: Our status
-
Are we compliant?
Yes! All 2N products produced by the end of May 2025 will be fully compliant with RED.
-
How do I recognise a compliant 2N product?
Compliant 2N products will continue to bear the CE mark, as required by EU regulations. In addition, starting from August 2025, all 2N-branded products will include a RED compliance mark on the regular 2N product label for easy identification. For added assurance, a formal statement of compliance is also available upon request.
2N products discontinued due to RED
As we take cybersecurity of our customers and products seriously, we have decided to discontinue some older 2N products that do not meet RED’s new requirements.
Here is a list of products that will be affected:
- 2N LTE Verso
- RFID readers and induction loop module for 2N IP Force
- 2N IP Verso and its modules will have new terms of use

FAQs

The UK is no longer part of the EU, so RED does not apply directly. However, if you’re importing products into the EU or working on EU-based projects, compliance is essential. On the other hand, RED introduces higher levels of cybersecurity controls and precautions for customers and consumers, so why not use the momentum and raise the cybersecurity bar of your offering by following this new directive.
-
No. RED compliance is legally required for equipment placed on the EU market after the enforcement date. Installed equipment prior to this is not retroactively subject to the directive.
-
No significant impact is expected, but some legacy products may be phased out. We’ll do our best to ensure you have access to RED-compliant alternatives with similar functionality.
-
Yes — statements of compliance are available upon request. Just contact your 2N representative.
