2N Access Commander 3.4 is here!

Electronic lock support, easier upgrades, and better visitor management

A woman works at a computer in an office, with software showing device images, next to the text "3.4 2N Access Commander".

The latest version of our access control management software, 2N Access Commander 3.4, is now available, introducing several important upgrades that aim to make building security smarter, more flexible, and easier to manage.

Support for 2N Fortis Electronic Locks

Version 3.4 marks the first phase of support for 2N Fortis electronic locks.

This update lays the foundation for managing the locks directly within 2N Access Commander.

So, it goes without saying that if you add 2N Fortis electronic locks to an existing 2N system and are already using 2N Access Commander, you must upgrade it to Version 3.4.

Let’s dive into how 2N Fortis electronic locks are set up and managed in 2N Access Commander:

New settings page dedicated to 2N Fortis configuration

Via this new, dedicated interface, you’ll be able to:

  • Generate encrypted keys
  • Create four types of maintenance cards (for setup, service, disassembly, and battery replacement)
  • Export and import lock configuration data
  • Manage lock settings

It’s worth noting that while 2N Fortis locks are supported in this release, certain limitations still apply (e.g., visitor access is not yet supported, and the maximum lock count is 255).

This makes version 3.4 ideal for controlled offline installations—and sets the stage for more advanced lock management in version 3.5, due later this year.

Proxy exception support for seamless upgrades

For deployments in high-security environments with limited internet access, 2N Access Commander 3.4 now supports HTTP/S proxy exceptions. This allows the software to stay connected to locally installed 2N devices while still accessing the internet for upgrades—without needing to switch network configurations.

Longer visitor access for integration scenarios

In response to partner feedback, visitor validity periods have been extended from 30 to 90 days. This is particularly useful for third-party integrations, such as room booking systems or temporary staff access, where longer visitor durations are needed.

This new setting is available to installations using the Advanced license tier and above.

A cleaner, smarter UI

Access Commander 3.4 introduces a refreshed design system and a new column in the device list to easily distinguish between device types—Intercoms, Access Units, Answering Units, and Electronic Locks. These small but impactful visual upgrades make managing even complex installations more intuitive.
