Improvement-packed update: new 2N OS 2.46

The latest version of the 2N OS (Version 2.46) is packed with improvements that will enhance user experience, improve integration possibilities, and strengthen security.  Let's get a closer look at what’s new!

2N OS update Version 2.46

Empowering even more flexibility: automation for 2N Flexi Layout

2N Flexi Layout, our in-built tool for customising the display of the 2N IP Style, is perfect for tailoring our most advanced intercom to individual needs. 2N OS 2.46 takes it one step further – with the ability to control 2N Flexi Layout from automation.

There are two new blocks added to automation in the 2N OS of the 2N IP Style that will enhance 2N Flexi Layout:

  • Flexi Page lets you use automation to show a specific page of the 2N IP Style’s screen after a certain user action. For example, when a user enters their PIN on the intercom, it will show a custom page that varies according to their needs—open gates, turn off alarms, and many more. Or, for guests, you can show one page during opening hours with access options, and another page when the building is closed, displaying opening hours and a contact number.
  • Flexi Trigger: This makes it easy to allow buttons to trigger automated actions in Flexi Layout!
    • Before 2N OS 2.46, if you wanted to trigger an action with a custom button, you needed to use an HTTP command for the trigger with an IP address for the action you needed.
    • Now, you can use Flexi Trigger to create a block in Automation for your chosen trigger and name it. Then, when assigning an action for your custom button, simply select the named trigger from a list.

LPR buffering for enhanced accuracy & better logs

License Plate Recognition (LPR) can sometimes incorrectly read the license plate from further away– e.g. confusing 3 and E, etc. While the car is ultimately granted entry (accuracy improves once closer) this issue can mean it’s added to the access logs as an unknown car with an invalid license plate.

2N OS 2.46 allows for buffering of plate reading results, improving accuracy. Instead of logging incorrect plates taken at the first image from a distance, the system waits for a correct match from a closer distance before registering it. This prevents cluttered logs and ensures smoother operations.

Unlock new automation capabilities using user metadata

We’ve added the ability to add notes to individual users in the directory of ARTPEC devices using the new parameter ‘Notes’. This allows you to add useful general information about users, but the main benefit is to store metadata and then use it in the new automation block: Comparator.

The Comparator block serves as a condition in automation. It works with the user’s name, LPR, and user notes. It specifies that the user's ID must have a specific value in those notes, and perform an action based on that.

  • Example Use Case: Group users into categories (e.g., Group 1, Group 2) via notes, then tailor intercom actions. For instance, users in Group 1 might trigger a unique welcome message or access a hidden custom GUI page.

Comparator can also be used for integrations: based on the user and their metadata, you can automatically enable functions powered by integration.
