Introducing the upgraded 2N Lift8 Central Unit
The new generation of the 2N Lift8 Central Unit takes elevator emergency and evacuation communication to the next level. Built on a proven modular architecture, it offers enhanced connectivity options and compliance features while staying fully compatible with all existing Lift8 modules – and even keeps the same ordering number.
What’s new in the 2N Lift8 Central Unit
1. Ethernet port for VoIP callsBuilt-in Ethernet interface enables the Central Unit to connect directly to the internet, paving the way for modern, network-based VoIP communication. This connection ensures superior audio quality and prevents DTMF signal distortion – a crucial advantage in critical emergency communications.
2. USB-C for simple local configuration
Configuration has never been easier. The new USB-C port streamlines setup and maintenance, allowing technicians to configure the unit locally using the supplied 2N configuration software. Remote management is also possible via the voice menu, software application, or SMS, offering complete flexibility for installers and service teams.
3. Full compliance with EU standards
Among others, the new 2N Lift8 Central Unit 2N is fully compliant with EN 81-72 and EN 81-76 and designed for the most demanding environments, including those requiring firefighter and evacuation communication. The unit also meets all Radio Equipment Directive (RED) requirements, guaranteeing the highest level of reliability, safety, and compliance across the EU.
Proven strengths – now even better
The upgraded 2N Lift8 Central Unit retains all the features customers rely on, including compatibility with all existing Audio Units and other existing modules.
- All you need is two wires – installation couldn’t be simpler. Regardless of the communication technology used, only two wires in the travelling cable are needed to connect up to six audio units in a single shaft and machine room.
- Designed for multiple shafts – a single 2N Lift8 Central Unit with one SIM card or registered to one VoIP provider can handle emergency calls from up to 8 independent elevator shafts, providing excellent scalability and cost efficiency.
- Wide range of communication interfaces – in addition to the Ethernet port used for VoIP calls, users can choose from PSTN (fixed telephone line), 2G/3G/4G module supporting VoIP over Mobile or VoLTE, as well as RS232 or LAN extension boards for maximum flexibility. The entire system is modular, so you can easily add and replace individual interfaces, eliminating the need to swap out the entire system.
- Evacuation communication – switch the Central Unit into Evacuation mode and use it for structured voice communication between evacuation floors and the control room (Main Elevator Evacuation Floor). One Central Unit can support up to 64 Landing Audio Units via direct two-wire connections ensuring coordinated and efficient response during emergency situations. More information available here.
- Fireman Audio Unit – supports up to two Fireman Units for firefighter interventions. These units initiate top-priority calls, ensuring immediate communication with the cabin communicator, machine room, or control room.
