Important update: 2N devices affected by the Radio Equipment Directive
As part of our ongoing commitment to meeting the highest industry standards and EU regulations, 2N will discontinue selected products that do not comply with the updated Radio Equipment Directive (RED) 2014/53/EU. This directive ensures all radio-based devices sold in the EU meet stringent criteria for safety, electromagnetic compatibility, spectrum efficiency, and enhanced cybersecurity.
What the Radio Equipment Directive is, and why it matters
The RED directive establishes the essential requirements for all wireless and radio-enabled products across the EU. A key update to this regulation introduces strict cybersecurity obligations to protect users and networks from unauthorized access, data breaches, and other digital threats. Compliance is mandatory, and 2N is fully aligned with these requirements to ensure our devices remain safe, secure, and future-ready.

2N IP Verso and radio-based modules: new terms and conditions
- Effective August 1st, 2025, the 2N IP Verso main units in combination with radio modules (e.g. RFID, Bluetooth or Induction loop) will no longer meet the requirements of the RED Directive. As a result, their use within the EU will be restricted.
- However, the sale of the 2N IP Verso will not end - EU customers can still purchase and use it in combination with other modules such as Keypad, Touch display or buttons.
- In the long term, we recommend switching to 2N IP Verso 2.0, our latest model, which is fully RED compliant. It also brings significant technological improvements, including:
- A significantly enhanced camera with Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) support
- Night vision for better performance in low light
- Face zooming for improved security
- QR code access for modern and contactless entry
