Update to 2N Access Commander 3.5
Unlock user-friendly, efficient management of 2N Fortis
2N Access Commander v3.5 introduces several updates that streamline the set-up and management of our electronic locks – making it easier than ever before to expand your 2N access control system to areas where cabling isn’t an option.
Introducing support for the NEW 2N Fortis Commander!
There’s now no need to use complex third-party software to assign or maintain 2N Fortis electronic locks. The new 2N Fortis Commander, our configuration software, was designed in-house by the talented 2N team and allows for simplified set-up and management of our electronic locks with fewer steps.
2N Fortis Commander can:
- Assign locks created in 2N Access Commander to physical locks
- Read and display lock events
- Toggle locks into a ‘free access state’
- Perform maintenance functions such as disassembly & battery replacement (2N Fortis cylinders only)
- Factory reset a lock
There’s also no more copying and pasting encryption keys or site IDs: everything needed for lock setup is now contained in one encrypted project file.
Why did we develop a separate application? Because we know that in real-world use, there is no guarantee that electronic locks will be installed within Wi-Fi range, and as such, connection to the 2N Access Commander would not be guaranteed.
Download 2N Fortis Commander here or via the link that will be displayed in your updated 2N Access Commander.

Automatic access events
Events from 2N Fortis electronic locks are now transferred to 2N Access Commander via access cards. The cards act as a ‘bridge’ reporting both system and access events.
How does it work?
- The access card is presented to the offline lock, and access is granted
- At the same time, system and access events are written onto that card
- The next time that card is presented to an online device (i.e. a 2N intercom or access reader), those events are automatically written to 2N Access Commander’s logs.
Data is encrypted and transferred in the background anytime a card is presented to an online device such as an IP intercom or access unit.
System events include low battery status, or even lock jammed. Both access granted and access denied at a lock are transferred to the access log.
Lock groups offer more efficiency for large projects
Grouping locks means reading cards is faster, and the access rights on cards take up less space. Locks can belong to more than one group at a time, which is perfect for ‘access all areas’ cards for management while simultaneously supporting more limited access for employees.
One less maintenance card
Brand-new locks and existing locks can be configured using the same encrypted card: the new lock setup card and the service card have been merged into one. That’s one less card for installers to worry about! The default expiry date of one year can also be adjusted.
This new capability is particularly useful for temporary work contracts.
What else is new for 2N Access Commander users?
This update to 2N Access Commander isn’t limited to support of 2N Fortis. There are several other updates:
Card searching
We’ve enhanced our search box to include card reading – which is perfect for locating the owner of a found card or fob.
- When a USB reader is enabled, a card icon appears.
- Clicking the icon and placing a card on the reader performs a search.
- User, visitor, and 2N Fortis maintenance cards are all supported.
Company-specific time profiles
In multi-company installations, admins can now assign a newly created time profile to a company. This means the company access manager will only see system-wide time profiles or time profiles assigned to their company. Time profiles associated with a company will only be visible to that company.
This makes installations more secure and gives each company more autonomy.
Stayed logged in for longer!
Users can now remain logged in to their browser session for up to 7 days – logins will even persist after system reboots. From a user’s profile page, all of their browser login sessions are visible with IP address, operating system, browser type, and a last activity timestamp.
All sessions can be logged out remotely with a single click.
Support for 2N Sentrio and 2N LiftIP 2.0
The online state of 2N OS based elevator devices can now be monitored from the device list, monitoring page, and can be notified by email. Access to the device's web configuration is also supported, and 2N Access Commander will remember the device's password just like any other 2N IP device.
Additional enhancements and improvements:
- You can now download CAM log images associated with events as a single file
- User access PINs created by managers in multi-company installations are now random: preventing the unintentional discovery of existing user PINs in other companies.
- CSV exports of logs now include time stamps that match the system time zone. For installations that span multiple time zones, the option to choose UTC+0 remains.
