Bluetooth authentication - How to configure it in 2N® Access Commander

The steps in this article require using the web interface of a 2N device. Please follow this manual in case this is your first time using the web interface.

This article describes:

  1. Pairing via connected device
  2. Pairing via external USB Bluetooth Dongle

Requirements: 

  1. 2N Access Commander running on the latest version
  2. 2N Access Commander license: Advanced or higher
  3. 2N Access Unit, IP Style, IP Verso or IP Verso 2.0 intercom with the latest firmware
  4. Mobile device that supports Bluetooth v4.0 a higher, with My2N app and active Bluetooth (and GPS location for Android phones)
  5. Optionally: external USB Bluetooth Reader dongle and 2N USB driver, which you can download here: https://www.2n.com/en_GB/products/external-bluetooth-reader-usb

 

Pairing via connected device

Before you start:

  1. Navigate to section Companies, select one and click on it:



  2. Click the three dots button near 'Pairing devices' in the 'Mobile key' section and select 'Edit':



  3. Define which 2N device(s) with Bluetooth module can be used by users for the pairing process and save



  4. Set the Pairing time, which defines how much time the users will have to pair their smartphone with selected 2N devices via Bluetooth. By default the time is set to 1 hour:

 

How to pair via Bluetooth:

  1. Go to the Users section
  2. Create a new user or choose an existing user, make sure they are assigned to an Access Group
  3. Navigate to the 'Credentials' section in the user's profile
  4. Click 'Add credential' and select My2N app:



  5. Press 'Pair using devices':



  6. You will see the pairing code along with the expiration time:



  7. Additionally, you will be given an option to send the pairing code via email by clicking the mail button:


Continue on your mobile device:

  1. Make sure that you have enabled Bluetooth and Location Services on your mobile device
  2. Open My2N app and get near the selected 2N device
  3. Click the + button in the top right corner, then select 'Pairing PIN':

             

  4. Enter the pairing PIN and click 'Next':

             

  5. Click 'Start pairing':

             

             

  6. Once you enter the correct code, the mobile device will be assigned to your user in 2N Access Commander
  7. You can now gain access by using your My2N app:

             

 

Pairing via external USB Bluetooth Dongle

How to pair via the USB Bluetooth Dongle:

  1.  Download and install the latest version of the 2N USB Driver here: https://www.2n.com/en_GB/products/external-bluetooth-reader-usb
  2. Connect the USB Bluetooth Dongle to your PC and verify that you can see it connected via the USB Driver tool
  3. After installation, run the USB Driver and open the settings window by right clicking on the USB Driver icon:



  4. Open the 'Bluetooth Reader' folder and make sure that the dongle is listed as a device, as seen on the screenshot below:


  5. Open 2N Access Commander and go to section Settings > Credentials > Enabled USB reader:



  6. Switch on the External USB Bluetooth Reader:



  7. Go to Users section, choose a user who you want to pair
  8. Click 'Add credential' and select the My2N app:



  9. Select 'Pair using reader' to display the pairing PIN:



  10. Continue in My2N app on your mobile device according to the instructions above
