2N Indoor View - How to set up calling via My2N

The steps in this article require using the web interface of a 2N device. Please follow this manual in case this is your first time using the web interface. There are two modes of adding 2N Indoor View unit to the My2N portal:  Local - allows you to use 2N Indoor View in your local network. The reason for adding the device to My2N as local is to facilitate the configuration of the device so that it is not necessary to deactivate the automatic configuration of the intercom and simply add 2N Indoor View as a contact under the intercom button directly in My2N.In this mode, 2N Indoor View has to be located in the same LAN as the intercom.  Cloud – this mode allows, for example, to make calls from 2N Indoor View to the 2N Mobile Video application and vice versa. 2N Indoor View does not have to be in the same network.  1. Adding device to My2N  You can add 2N Indoor View by clicking on the button ADD DEVICE, and then choosing "2N Device" (see picture below).     A new window will appear asking you to enter the serial number and My2N Security Code to add the device.   Security code    My2N Security Code on the card that comes with the device.Another way to get the security code is to go to the web interface: System > Auto Provisioning > My2N.Please note that the security code is listed in firmware version 2.26 and higher (if you do not see it here, please upgrade the device: System > Auto Provisioning).             After successfully adding the device, you can see it in the My2N portal in the Settings section – see the picture below:  In the case of cloud mode, you will see "Online" instead of "Device is local".      2. Registration to My2N (possible in cloud mode)  In the DEVICE DETAIL you need to switch to the cloud mode. Then in the Mobile Video tab, you need to activate the service. Upon activating the device will automatically try to register to the SIP Proxy. If successful, you will see the status Registered in the Devices section.   3. Call settings  On the 2N Indoor View side, we will create a contact within the My2N portal for calls to the 2N IP Intercom if it is in automatic mode.Directly in the detail of the given 2N Indoor View in the CALL SETTINGS section under the appropriate button, where we select the called device.         If you want to call the 2N IP Intercom, the Answering Mode of the incoming calls have to be set to Automatic or Manual Pickup for SIP 2:      If you have selected "manual" Configuration mode for 2N Indoor View, you have to set the contact directly in the 2N Indoor View's interfaceby creating a user in the Directory - see the pictures here:  (Phone number will be My2N Device ID - followed by "/ 2" if the unit is registered to My2N correctly via the SIP 2 account.)    On the 2N IP Intercom's side, we will create a contact for calling the 2N Indoor View if it is in automatic mode.Namely in the detail of the intercom under the appropriate button within the My2N portal, where we select the called device. Please follow this manual in case this is your first time using the web interface.   You can add an external IP camera to the 2N IP Intercom to see second video stream e.g. during call. IP camera can be placed for example behind the front door as well as somewhere outside the building. This is very useful because you can check if the calling person is there alone, if he/she already enters the building, if there is some intruder next to him/her, etc. It is possible to specify which picture will be the first one that you see when somebody calls from the intercom – would it be a picture from internal camera or from external camera? The 2N Network Scanner is a simple, freely available application for locating 2N devices in the network. After searching the network, the application shows the type, firmware version and IP address of all intercoms found on a chart. There are two modes of the SIP registration of the 2N Indoor Compact unit in this example, to the My2N portal:    Local  - allows you to use the 2N Indoor Compact in your local network. The reason why you can choose this mode is to make the configuration of the intercom easier so it is not necessary for you to disable the automatic configuration and you can just simply add the 2N Indoor Compact in your local mode and the intercom will be configured automatically. In this mode, the 2N Indoor Compact has to be placed in the same LAN as the intercom.   Cloud  - this mode allows you to make the calls from the 2N Indoor Compact to the 2N Mobile Video application and vice versa. You can use this mode in situations where the unit is placed in a different LAN than the intercom.  2N Indoor Compact My2N Registration:  Security code  Local mode  Automatic configuration  Call settings  Unlock Settings   Cloud mode  DTMF Sending Receiving modes  Unlocking     Security code     Security code is included in the package with the device on the card. Certificates are commonly used to identify server or device to which we are trying to connect. Nowadays digital certificates for web application are used according to the ITU X.509 standard.    The certificate is issued by some trusted issuer or Certification Authority (also shortened to CA) and assigns public key to either domain name or IP address. If certificate is issued for different IP address or domain name, than the destination really has, modern web browser will usually inform us that the web page can be forged.   Certificates are issued on limited time (for security reasons), after this time it is needed to renew validity of the certificate (often a year for server and client applications with reserve of a few days). After the expiration of a certificate web browsers will point out that the certificate is invalid because of authentication fo server will not pass.   Connectivity to our devices web interface is provided by secured HTTPS protocol, which requires valid certificate. Go to 2N Indoor Compacts’s web management - section Directory - Devices click on Find device and choose the device you want to add.    After you have added the device, the Device Name and Phone Number are automatically filled.You may then set your DTMF codes that you want to send to the intercom during the call, you can set up to 3. When you have more than 1 code set, a press of a padlock button during a call will show other 2 codes that you can choose from Unlock Button Function  Button 1,2,3 Code: Defines DTMF code to be sent to the 2N IP intercom during call    If no Button 1,2,3 Code is defined than Default Unlock Code will be used for unlocking. This code is also used to unlock the device outside the call.

Configuring HTTP Commands on 2N Indoor Compact

The steps in this article require using the web interface of a 2N device. Please follow this manual in case this is your first time using the web interface.   From firmware version 2.34 the 2N Indoor Compact answering unit can send HTTP commands by long-pressing the unlock button on the device. You can set up to 3 different HTTP commands. In case there is only one HTTP command set, the 2N Indoor Compact will send the HTTP command immediately after the long press of the unlock button. But if there are 2 or 3 HTTP commands set they all will be shown on the 2N Indoor Compact's screen and you can choose the desired HTTP command to be sent. Here’s an example of how to set commands for triggering Switch 1 and for holding Switch 2 open on 2N IP Verso. The HTTP command for triggering Switch 1 on the 2N IP Verso is https://IP_address/api/switch/ctrl?switch=1&action=on and for holding the Switch 2 open is https://IP_address/api/switch/ctrl?switch=2&action=hold. You can find the HTTP commands in the HTTP API manual or by accessing the HTTP API TESTool which is part of every 2N IP Intercom and can help you create valid HTTP commands for the desired request type. You can access the TESTool by entering the intercom’s IP address and writing /apitest.html at the end (for example https://192.168.49.88/apitest.html).   After you get the correct HTTP commands go to the “Services -> HTTP Command” section of the 2N Indoor Compact’s web interface and fill in the required credentials. URL - the HTTP command Icon - Choose an icon that will be shown on the 2N Indoor Compact's screen Name - Fill in the name of the HTTP command Username - required username in case of the HTTP API account for authorisation is set in the command receiving device Password - required password in case of the HTTP API account for authorisation is set in the command receiving device      After that simply save the settings and you will be able to send the HTTP command by long-pressing the unlock button on the 2N Indoor compact answering unit.

If you forget the password to the web interface of 2N IP Handset, you need to perform a hardware factory reset.    Hardware procedure  start with the device turned OFF  power up the device  press # on the keypad when  red flashes in the sequence orange - green - red  on the back of the IP Handset.  LED then turns off, wait for it to flash red again and  on the keypad enter *#168*#168    if done correctly, in few moments LED will flash again  in the sequence orange - green - red  , IP Handset will boot and will be reset to default values. Since firmware version 2.34 the 2N Indoor View answering unit can send HTTP commands by pressing the configured button on the screen. You can set up to 3 different HTTP commands. In case there is only one HTTP command set, the 2N Indoor View will send the HTTP command immediately after pressing the configured on-screen button. But if there are 2 or 3 HTTP commands set they all will be shown on the 2N Indoor View's screen and you can choose the desired HTTP command to be sent. Here’s an example of how to set commands for triggering Switch 1 and for holding Switch 2 open on 2N IP Verso. The HTTP command for triggering Switch 1 on the 2N IP Verso is https://IP_address/api/switch/ctrl?switch=1&action=on and for holding the Switch 2 open is https://IP_address/api/switch/ctrl?switch=2&action=hold. You can find the HTTP commands in the HTTP API manual or by accessing the HTTP API TESTool which is part of every 2N IP Intercom and can help you create valid HTTP commands for the desired request type. Our intercoms use HTTPS protocol for accessing their web interface. HTTPS unlike HTTP requires a certificate for authentication. The certificates for 2N devices are signed by the device itself (self-signed) and not by the certification authority hence the browser will mark it as a potential threat.    macOS 10  In macOS 10 when you entered the IP address of your 2N device you would have been presented with "Your connection is not private" as shown below.This had a simple solution -> click on Advanced -> Proceed to IP address (unsafe) and you were taken to the webpage of your 2N device:        macOS 11 Big Sur and newer (12 Monterey, 13 Ventura, 14 Sonoma, 15 Sequoia) With the new macOS update 11, you will not be given the option to Proceed to IP address (unsafe).But there is a workaround for you if you are using a chromium-based web browser e.g. Google Chrome.Workaround: Click anywhere on the blank background and type thisisunsafe on your keyboard and you will be taken to the login webpage of 2N Device      In order to access the web interface of our devices, they need to be on firmware version 2.31 and newer. If you don't own a Windows or a Linux machine, hence you don't have a way how to upgrade the unit, you can upgrade the firmware via a Remote Configuration tool iny My2N. This is a best optin to access the configuration using iOS or iPadOS.   Remote Configuration You can access the web interface via Remote Configuration in our My2N service. The Remote Configuration feature is free for any number of devices and is usable on both macOS and iOS devices. Here are the steps needed: 1. Create an account (if you don't have one yet) here. 2. CONFIGURATION   We add 2N IP Handset within the My2N account (how to create a My2N account as a 3rd-party device    Info   As it is not a standard intercom or 2N answering unit, the device can only be added to My2N as a "3rd-party" device, and its use by the 2N Mobile Video cloud service is thus charged.      In the detail of the My2N device you will then have SIP registration data for entering into the web interface of the 2N IP Handset device.      In the web interface of the 2N IP Handset device go to the Line section and you will immediately get to the SIP tab, where you fill in (see the picture below) in the category  Register Settings:Username - number given by the PBX (9691147035 in the example below)Authenticate User - ID used for authentication against the proxy (same as username with My2N)Authentication password - password provided by the proxySIP Server 1:Server Address - proxy server address (proxy-200.my2n.com in the example)Server Port is 5060 and transport protocol TCP.         At the top right check the Activate box under the Register settings and click Apply at the bottom of the page to save the settings.       Line Staus will then show us whether the device is successfully registered - see the picture above (Registered).   The 2N IP Handset has two SIP accounts, and can thus be registered (and make or receive calls) simultaneously at two exchanges - switchable at the top next tothe Line parameter.       CALLING  In the Value field we fill in the contact of the called party given by that PBX (e.g. 9691143791) and select the given SIP account in the Line field, which we registered to the PBX - see the picture below:    Info   SIP account, which will be used for the call can't be chosen directly on the device.

This FAQ describes what to do in case of technical problems with the 2N IP Handset.  1) Firmware  always have the current firmware version on the device - you can perform the update in the web interface in the System section and the Upgrade tab (see the picture below)  a) by clicking on the Select button we select the file with the given version from the local storage and then perform the upgrade by clicking on the Upgrade buttonb) by clicking on the Upgrade button in the Firmware Information section we can update the device online (if a new software version is detected)- see the purple box in the picture below  the device will restart automatically after the update file has been successfully uploaded   in the "Upgrade" tab we can also see the current firmware version - see the green box on the image below     2) Configuration initialisation  we reset the device to factory values ("factory reset") and try to set the required functions again      3) Configuration backup  send us the downloaded configuration from the device - in the web interface go to the System section and to the Configurations tab and in the Export Configurations section we see three options how to back up the configuration (see picture below)  so right-click on the third, last, line and download the configuration file in XML format     4) Network trace  in the web interface go to the System section, the Tools tab and the Web Capture section and click the Start button (see the image below and the green box) - the file will start to be downloaded - do not interrupt the process   start a problematic action using network communication (typically a call or registration to the PBX / proxy server) and after its termination or the affected error, click the stop button, which ends the download and the desired PCAP file is automatically saved locally    5) System logs  can only be saved externally  in the web interface of the device go to the System section, to the Tools tab and the first paragraph is Syslog, where you check Enable Syslog  then fill in the server address where the logs will be uploaded, the port (default is 514) and the APP Log Level, or message level,which will be logged (Debug / Information / Warning / Error), when the Debug level records everything, on the other hand Error at least ("only" errors)  we will start the upload by clicking on the Apply button - see the picture below:   Tip   As the Syslog server enter the IP address of your PC, where you install and run e.g. the Syslog Watcher program, and after clicking on Start the logs will start to load automatically and you can then export them directly to a file.

The external camera is a feature enabling you to add any IP camera to the 2N Indoor View. Thanks to this feature you can see the video stream from an external IP camera. The external camera can be placed for example behind the front door as well as somewhere outside the building. This is very useful because you can check if a person is there alone, if they have already entered the building, if there is a thief next to them, etc. After reading this FAQ you will find out how to configure it. From a technical point of view, the 2N Indoor View allows you to utilize RTSP streams from standard IP video cameras. You may use up to 1280x720px resolution at 30 fps RTSP stream in the H.264 codec or the same resolution in the MJPEG codec, you can find more specifications in the configuration manual.  Requirements:  2N Indoor View with firmware 2.34.0 or higher, but it is strongly recommended always to use the latest firmware.  IP camera supporting RTSP stream meeting the requirements above. You can find IP cameras already tested on this page also with full specification: 2N IP Interoperability / IP Cameras.    How to set it in 2N Indoor View Setting up the 2N Indoor View itself is very easy and all necessary steps are shown in the picture below. Go to the Hardware / Camera section of the web interface where you can find 4 tabs labelled "External 1-4". This means that you can set up to 4 external cameras in the device. As a first step enable the External camera. After that, you have to fill in the Display name and specify the RTSP Stream Address of the IP camera from which the RTSP stream will be downloaded to the 2N® Indoor View. Fill in the RTSP stream address in the following format: rtsp://ip_camera_address/parameters (parameters depend on the connected IP camera model). As a next step enter the authentication username and password for the external IP camera connection. These parameters are obligatory only if the external IP camera requires authentication. You should be able to see Camera Preview if you configured everything correctly as you can see below. If not, there is must be something wrong with the configuration. You will find a very helpful External IP Camera Log in this case. You can see basic communication with the external camera.  Example of configuration 2N Indoor View – firmware 2.34.0.43.3   AXIS Cameras   Most AXIS IP cameras use some variation of this URL rtsp:///axis-media/media.amp?videocodec=h264&resolution=640x480 The exact format and parameters in the URL depend on your requirements and camera model.        This particular guide was done with 2N Indoor View and as the external camera, we used 2N IP Verso (FW 2.33.1.42.10).    Once you configure everything correctly, you will be able to see the external IP camera in the device list on the 2N Indoor View screen.       Information about Axis cameras To get Axis cameras to work with 2N Indoor View, you have to go to System>Plain config>Image section and in there you must check PS Enabled setting everywhere you find it: Select the Plain config  Confirm the Advanced settings message    Select the "Image" section   Check the "PS Enabled" option

Please follow this manual in case this is your first time using the web interface.   The 2N  Indoor Talk unit is designed for an audio communication with the 2N  IP Intercom. You can see all intercoms connected to the LAN, you are able to accept incoming audio calls, make outgoing calls to 2N  IP Intercom and also control locks connected to the intercom.  Requirements   We strongly recommend using the latest Firmware  2N Indoor Talk with the latest firmware - here  2N IP intercom with the latest firmware - here  no licence is needed     How to configure 2N IP Intercom? Go to the section  "Directory – Users", press Create new user.Fill in the Name. If you want to call the 2N  Indoor Talk unit, the Phone number has to be filled in a format: "sip: ip address". In our example the ip address “192.168.49.62” is being used, please see the picture below.    In the next step you can set the intercom to automatically pick up the incoming calls in order to easily reach it at any time.Go to the section  "Calling – Genetal Settings" and enable Automatic Pickup for incoming calls for both SIP1 and SIP2, see the picture below.  A next step is to set a DTMF code by which the Switch can be triggered.Go to  "Hardware - Switches" and add an Activation code.  Make sure that the electric opener/lock is always connected to the intercom's 12V output using a security relay to make the installation safe. The motherboard relay is used for switching lights or other peripherals that do not have to be secured. It is always recommended that the 2N Security Relay (Part No. 9159010) is used for increased security. Last step is to assign the recently created contact to quick dial button.Go to  "Calling - Dialing" click on the Add user to the quick dial button and choose desired users.   List of connected devices on 2N IP intercom   A list of registered Device names can be easily viewed on the 2N  IP intercom in the menu  Calling - Local Calls, see the example below.       How to configure 2N Indoor Talk? Once the 2N  Indoor Talk is connected to the local network, go to its web page - section Directory - Devices. Press Search registered devices and choose the device you want to add.    After you have added the device Device Name and Phone Number are filled automatically. In our example we use IP address instead of Device ID, so please fill the Phone Number with IP address of the intercom. In our example we use "sip:192.168.50.11" as a phone number. Please see the picture below.  You can call up to 2 devices from 2N  Indoor Talk. You can see all intercoms connected to the LAN, you are able to accept incoming calls, make outgoing calls to 2N IP intercoms and also control locks connected to the intercoms.  Recommendation - use the latest firmware   We recommend to use the latest firmware in 2N Indoor View and also 2N IP intercoms to ensure that all functions are available.    How to configure a 2N IP intercom? As a very first step go to the section Directory – Users, create a new user and set the Phone Number to be dialed once you press the appropriate button on the intercom. If you want to call the 2N Indoor View unit, the number has to be filled in the following format: "device:devicename". In our example the device name “IndoorView” is being used as in the picture below.  In the next step you can set the intercom to automatically pick up incoming calls in order to reach it easily at any time. Go to the section Calling – Gerenal Settings and enable Automatic Pickup for Local Calls, see the picture below.  As a next step go to the section Calling – SIP 1 and fill in the Domain field. For direct calls it is recommended to fill in the IP address of your intercom as shown in the picture below (IP address of the intercom in this example is 192.168.50.10).       A list of available 2N indoor units and their device names can be easily displayed in the 2N IP intercom in the menu Calling  – Local Calls. The list can be viewed by clicking "Show" next to the "Show LAN Device list". See the example below.    Last step is to assign the contact to a quick dial button in the Calling - Dialing section of the configuration.    How to configure 2N Indoor View? Once the 2N Indoor View is connected to the local network, go to its web interface, section Calling – Local Calls. To be able to receive calls from 2N IP intercoms you need to set the Device ID there. The Device ID is used by the intercom for call routing instead of its IP address.  To be able to call from 2N Indoor View to a 2N IP intercom go to 2N Indoor View web interface, section Directory – Devices and add the 2N IP intercom to the device list. Device list is available via 2N Indoor View's onscreen menu.    To be able to activate a 2N IP intercom's switch during a call, open the intercom's tab in Devices, and fill in a valid unlocking DTMF code.

Prerequisites:- 2N Indoor View- 2N Indoor Compact- 2N Indoor Talk- 2N Clip  Explanation of IP Telephony Terms   SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) – is a phone call signalling transmission protocol used in IP telephony. It is primarily used for setting up, terminating and forwarding calls between two SIP devices (the intercom and another IP phone in this case). SIP devices can establish connections directly with each other (Direct SIP Call) or, typically, via one or more servers: SIP Proxy and SIP Registrar.  SIP Proxy – is an IP network server responsible for call routing (call transfer to another entity closer to the destination). There can be one or more SIP Proxy units between the users.  SIP Registrar – is an IP network server responsible for user registration in a certain network section. As a rule, SIP device registration is necessary for a user to be accessible to the others on a certain phone number. SIP Registrar and SIP Proxy are often installed on one and the same server.  RTP (Real-Time Transport Protocol) – is a protocol defining the standard packet format for audio and video transmission in IP networks. 2N Indoor Compact uses the RTP for audio and video stream transmission during a call. The stream parameters (port numbers, protocols and codecs) are defined and negotiated via the SDP (Session Description Protocol).  The example below: the 2N  Indoor Compact  is registered to the SIP Proxy (2N Netstar SW) 192.168.50.252, The phone number ID is 200, SIP Proxy and SIP proxy registrar Server is also 192.168.50.252 and there is used a default port 5060. The Authentication ID and password is in case also required from the Pbx.       It is possible to check the current registration status in the Section State-Services - Registration state-REGISTERED.
