The 2N® IP Style defines what a cutting-edge video intercom will look like in the coming decade. The unique design with a ten-inch display will catch your eye at first glance, but what technology is hidden inside the device?
The 2N® IP Style features an ARTPEC 7 processor by Axis, a Swedish company which dominates the global IP camera market. The ARTPEC 7 processor gives the 2N® IP Style intercom excellent image quality and efficient compression. You would have a very hard time finding a better chip. Why then is a cutting-edge camera with a powerful processor so important for an intercom?
Image quality like never before
Do you know those images when the light shines from behind a visitor’s back and the answering unit just displays a black silhouette and a dazzling light behind? You can forget about that problem with the 2N® IP Style intercom. The intercom supports WDR (wide dynamic range), a function which lightens the dark areas and darkens the overexposed parts of the image. It automatically compensates for the different levels of light in different areas of the image to ensure it is absolutely clear.
Colour image even while the light is fading
Another advantage of the ARTPEC 7 processor is that it perfectly maintains image colour even in very low light conditions. In complete darkness, the intercom switches to night mode and the camera uses conventional IR illumination. In addition, the camera can be configured in any way you want in the intercom’s web interface, where you can adjust the white balance, local contrast, tone mapping and maximum exposure time.
Nobody can hide
Apart from a powerful processor, you also need cutting-edge camera components and a superior quality lens to achieve the best possible image. The 2N® IP Style is equipped with a 5-megapixel camera with a maximum resolution of 2560 × 1920 px, or QHD widescreen resolution (2560 × 1440 px). The extremely wide viewing angles of the camera (144° horizontal and 126° vertical) mean that the resident really will be able to see everything happening outside their door. The resident will also have a good view of the visitor who rings the bell on the intercom and is standing in front of the door, or even someone who might deliberately want to stand in the blind spot not captured by the camera.
The camera is just the beginning
All of the above-mentioned features concern the image quality of the 2N® IP Style intercom. However, the intercom is not just a cutting-edge processor and camera lens. In a series of articles, we will also introduce you to the other key features of our flagship product: the display, the GUI, access control and durability. The 2N® IP Style excels in all these areas and defines the future standards for video intercoms.
