Analogue modems - supported protocols by 2N® EasyGate and 2N® SmartGate

Following protocols are supported: V.90, V.34, V.32bis, V.32, V.22bis and V.22. Some of these protocols allow a higher speed than the speed supported by GSM network. The transmission in GSM network is always limited to 9,6 kbps (CSD).

Calling - How many simultaneous calls can I do with 2N SmartGate?

It is same like with your mobile phone. You can do just one call at the moment.

CLIP - Does 2N SmartGate support CLIP function?

2N SmartGate is equipped with the FSK-based CLIP function on FXS port. If your telephone or PBX is able to process the caller's ID, you are advised to enable this function on 2N SmartGate.

Configuration - How to program 2N SmartGate?

2N SmartGate has its own application called PC Manager. You can program easily all parameters. You must only install this application and connect 2N SmartGate with PC via serial port RS232. But it is also possible to program some parameters via phone.

Connecting 2N SingleTalk via Well ATA-172P converter to VoIP server

2N SingleTalk can be connected to VoIP server thanks to Well ATA-171P converter which fully supports SIP signalization protocol. So there is a possibility to register Well ATA 172-P converter to VoIP server which is the SIP based protocol server. Between 2N SingleTalk and Well ATA converter there is possible to integrate 2N SmartGate analogue/GSM gateway in "dial thru" mode, then you will obtain possibility to route the call from analogue interface to VoIP/PSTN/GSM or UMTS network. Tested versions: 2N SingleTalk version 12-02-02 2N SmartGate version 3.20Y Well ATA-172P converter version p-107b Compatibility test: Audio call Connect ATA converter to LAN network and open web browser. Well ATA-172P has got default IP address 192.168.123.1:9999. Access details are Username: root Password: test The first change in the configuration which you need to set are tones for analogue units Management ->Tone (freq. 425Hz, times are 1 = 10ms,33 = 330ms). In the picture below you can see correct values. After filling in those values, confirm by “Submit”. As the next step save values to the unit by "Save Change". In the last step fill in access details for registration unit to the VoIP server. Go to the section SIP settings -> Service Domain. Fill "User Name", "Register Password" and "Proxy Server", those details must match the same ones you have created in your VoIP server. Confirm by “Submit”. Next save values to the unit by "Save Change". You can verify successful registration on side of Well ATA-171P by going into "Status" where you can see that the device has been registered. In case you would like to use GSM/analogue gateway 2N SmartGate mentioned above, then it is necessary to change setting of dial tone in the section "Tel. lines", to "Morse A" cadence.

Connection - How can I connect SmartGate?

2N SmartGate has two telephone ports – FXS and FXO. There are four possibilities how to use this device: DialThru gateway – basic connection – Phone set is normally connected to extension line of PBX. Wire up 2N SmartGate between phone set and PBX. Link extension line of PBX to FXO interface and phone set to FXS interface on 2N SmartGate. Similarly you can connect analogue fax (special model of 2N SmartGate). Gateway for extension line of PBX – Link free extension line of your PBX to FXO interface on 2N SmartGate. FXS interface remains unconnected. Gateway for trunk line of PBX – Link free trunk line of your PBX to FXS interface on 2N SmartGate. Program PBX to route all GSM calls to SmartGate. Incoming calls from GSM network will be routed to PBX. You can connect a standard telephone, an answering machine or any other FXO–interface terminal to 2N SmartGate. Outgoing calls from phone will be routed to GSM network, incoming calls from GSM will ring on the phone. Optionally you can connect analogue fax (special model of 2N SmartGate). Gateway for both, trunk and extension, lines of PBX – 2N SmartGate is very flexible thanks to its three routing tables. You can connect trunk and extension lines of one PBX to proper connectors on SmartGate. You can program the complex as follows: outgoing calls from PBX will be routed through trunk line to GSM network. Incoming calls from GSM will be routed to extension line of PBX. This configuration is suitable for PBXs which are not able to dial–in on trunk lines.

Data - Which interfaces can be used for a data call with 2N SmartGate?

RS232 - This serial interface is for sending and receiving of data RJ12 - if you have 2N SmartGate with FAX function (special order number), you can send and receive a data call via FXS port

FAX - How to send FAX message or data to GSM and from GSM?

1. Outgoing FAX message and data call – When the connected device is able to send CNG tone (1100Hz for fax 1300Hz for modem), the gateway recognises whether the call represents fax or data, the connection will be established automatically. When the terminal does not support CNG tones or some problems with recognition occurred, you have to dial in front of the destination number code *01* for fax call or *02* for data call. This code is used to inform the Gateway that the call is a fax or data call. 2. Incoming Fax message and data call – It is necessary to activate fax and data services on your SIM card. Please contact your GSM operator, which must provide you with special number for FAX and DATA calls (so–called Multinumbering scheme). NOTE: Used SIM card must have enabled FAX and DATA services and activated multinumbering scheme (unique phone number for voice, unique phone number for fax and data)

Hardware grounding - How to ground 2N EasyGate and 2N SmartGate

To ensure proper functionality, specially to avoid interference of the analogue line of 2N EasyGate/SmartGate, proper grounding is needed. You can complete it through a left pin in the SMS input (Pic. 1) for new models of 2N EasyGate PRO and 2N SmartGate UMTS. In case of an old version 2N EasyGate/SmartGate use right pin in the SMS input! Pic. 1

How to provide all information to effectively resolve a technical issue on 2N SmartGate

Dear customers, In case you have found some problems on the device, please report it to Technical Support with the following information: Please give us a detailed description how the problem could be simulated. Send us the current configuration of the device. Send us information about FW version and the serial number. Send us information which device is connected to the gateway (PBX, G3 FAX, analogue phone) In case of a problem with the progress tones, please send a record of it. How to send and receive a SMS

SMSGw Basic - an application that comes free of charge on an installation CD. It is designed for one user. SMS AT commands - for developing and integrating your own application SMS input - 2N SmartGate has its own SMS input - contact. After activation by switching on, a predefined SMS is automatically sent to the specified phone number (programmed using PC Manager).

RMA - What to check before the RMA process for 2N analog gateway

Please, follow the steps below what to check before you send the 2N EasyGate, 2N EasyGate PRO (UMTS) and on 2N SmartGate (UMTS) device for repair: Possible issues: a) device does not boot up after plug in power source b) device doesn't get signal c) device system led flash quickly add a) Check power source or try another one. add b) Try another antenna which has better gain. In case of GSM version, be sure that in your area is GSM coverage. As there are countries where is no more GSM available. Try another mobile operator. add c) device has some hardware problems and needs to be sent for RMA. If you ask for RMA, where is obvious hardware damage, attach photos from the installation side, from the damaged part and another photo which could be important for RMA process.
