To do so, you need to follow certain settings of 2N Lift8 Central Unit and meet specific restrictions and requirements in such connection.  Prerequisites 2N Lift8 Central Unit with communication module (  latest firmware recommended  ) 4x 2N Lift8 Audio Unit - COP (  one for each elevator  ) USB cable (optional) Computer with installed 2N Lift8 Service tool (optional)   Step by step guide  When 2N Lift8 Central Unit is powered up, please access its programming using 2N Lift8 Service tool and setup parameter 994 (Enable 4-lift version) to value 1.      In case you cannot connect computer to 2N Lift8 Central Unit, you are able to set this parameter by calling to 2N Lift8 Central Unit by phone and by using DTMF to set parameter 994 to value 1.    Install each of 2N Lift8 Audio Unit - COP to single elevator. In this setup you can use only one 2N Lift8 Audio Unit - COP in each elevator and shaft in total.  Jumper each 2N Lift8 Audio Unit - COP to different position for each elevator as show on image below.    You can Interconnect each of 2N Lift8 Audio Unit - COP with 2N Lift8 Central Unit using two wire cable to same one audio port in 2N Lift8 Central Unit. Please follow + and - polarity of cables of each 2N Lift8 Audio Unit - COP.         You can also connect other audio units such as 2N Lift8 Audio Unit - Shaft and 2N Lift8 Audio Unit - Compact instead of 2N Lift8 Audio Unit - COP. Info   This FAQ describes how get unknown IP address of 2N LiftIP. There are two ways how to get IP address, both are described below. First option is acustic announcement of the IP address via voice menu. Second option is getting the IP address via 2N LiftIP Service Tool, which is software for configuration of the device. This software contains network scanner for 2N LiftIP devices.    Getting IP address via the voice menu Hold the button for apx. for 3s MENU/SELECT to start voice configuration menu. Device will start announcement „Voice system menu. To leave the menu press the BACK button." If error is detected, error number will be announced. Announcement continues with IP address, DHCP and restore of factory default. Where you can find button MENU/SELECT is showed in the picture below (Label 1).  Menu will announce informations:  If error is detected: „Attention, the device is not working properly! Error code ..."  „IP address je x.x.x.x"  „DHCP client ON/OFF, to change the DHCP settings press the SELECT button now." (if the SELECT button is not pressed, menu continues to next setting).  „To perform the factory reset press the SELECT button now." (if button is not pressed, voice menu ends)  If you only need to know IP address of the devices, let the device announce whole menu and do not press any button. Info   This FAQ desribes how to store logs and configuration from the central unit 2N Lift8 Central Unit, with service tool 2N Service Tool.            Configuration backup to PC with service tool After USB connection to the central unit with your PC or remote IP connection to the central unit the configuration is downloaded automatically, in case you are not sure, click on read device for actual configuration download, then click on Save to file for backup:      Logs save into your PC with service tool In menu Logs read from device actual logs and then store then into the file.  Then select "BUS LOGS" and read from device / store into the file:    Tip   In case of issue on the installation site, first of all proceed an upgrade, then make tests again. Info   This FAQ describes how to configure confirmation mode of alarm calls on 2N Lift8 communicator. You will find what are the options for confirmation mode and what standard protocols can be used.  Please keep on mind that if you will disable confirmation for alarm calls, then you are doing this at your own risk as there is no human interaction!      How to configure confirmation mode  First of all you have to add at least one phone number for alarm calls. 2N Lift8 offers up to 6 alarm number memories whose are represented by parameters from 011 up to 016. Please refer to Table of Parameters in User manual for more detailed description of this parameters.  Once you will add the phone numbers, then you can configure confirmation for each memory slot. This is represented by parameters from 111 up to 116. Values for this parameter are 1-9 and default value is 1. So in default you always have to confirm alarm call by pressing number 1 on the receiving device! Description of all parameters is below:  1 = with confirmation DTMF (1) 2 = confirmation of picking up (supported only for GSM/UMTS/VoIP) 3 = CPC Antenna 4= CPC KONE 5 = P100 6 = autodetection DTMF protocol (CPC Antenna/P100) 7 = CPC Antenna 2N ext 8 = CPC KONE 2N ext 9 = P100 2N ext 2N ext is a protocol that transmits the shaft number and audio unit position together with the ID (to be displayed in 2N Lift8). This FAQ briefly describes how to connect/dissconect external LED diods to the 2N Lift8 car unit in proper way without damaging it. Below you will find a few brief steps with photos which ilustrates the procces.      Loosen the 4 screws marked in the picture below. It is not necessary to release them!     Once the screws are loosen, you can move the front plastic plate in way that screw heads will move to the bigger holes as you can see in picture below. After that you can remove the front plate.     Once the front plate is removed, you will gain access to LED diods connectors where you can connect/disconnect them.

Info   This FAQ describes how to factory reset 2N Lift8 system. It can be done by reset button on the central unit, voice menu, service tool or SMS (if the central unit is equipped with GSM or UMTS module)    Factory reset procedure of the system with the reset button on 2N Lift8 Central Unit Device has to be powered and running. Next to the USB connector on side you can find RESET button (Label 1). Restore factory values – press and hold the button until all the LEDs turn red. Then release the button and wait until the SYSTEM LED flashes yellow. Now press the button quickly to delete all the user settings. Delete central unit software completely – press and hold the button until all the LEDs turn red. Then release the button and wait until the SYSTEM LED (Label 2) flashes red. Now press the button quickly. CAUTION: after performing this function you can only restore the normal function of the device using a PC!      Factory reset with SW 2N Lift8 Service Tool After PC connection with central unit and configuration loading you can create a "NEW" configuration and then store it into the device with button "SAVE TO DEVICE".      Factory reset with voice menu *Dial assigned number of central unit (extension number, phone number), enter service password (default value is *12345*), select parameter 899*SERVICE_PASSWORD*, where service password is current service password (def. 12345).  Parameters for VoIP setting are not deleted (parameters 1100 - 1110).    Factory reset with SMS feature  Attention!   It is not available on PSTN and VoIP module!   If you send SMS in correct format L8 DEF X, where X is actual service password (def. 12345) the factory reset will be proceeded. In case of success you will get answer: L8  DEF  OK - factory reset was done successfully   Possible error messages: L8 ERR Invalid Message -If L8 sign is missing or is different (L2, L4 WHATEVER ELSE) L8 ERR Unknown Command -If another command then CNF, DEF, SET a RST was applied (DFE FNC ETC ...) L8 ERR Invalid Password - Incorrect password for programming (default is 12345) L8 ERR Invalid Parameters - related to CNF and SET. L8 ERR Invalid Syntax -Syntax error, when there are some spaces or chars where shouldn’t be L8 ERR Does not Respond - doesn’t answer the call after 60 sec- when the call is answered but doesn’t react for CPC programming- hang up during programming- does not react on WRITE_START, WRITE_CONFIRM, or CRC_REQUEST    Warning   Those operation doesn't change firmware version. In case of factory reset, all parameters are set back to factory defaults. In case of delete of file system, everything is deleted from the central unit (including firmware, voice menu). Is necessary to use 2N Service Tool and upload firmware again. Don't do this operation in case you are not equipped with 2N Service Tools running on site on PC!

Option with voice menu works only if the device is already configured and you know the number, where you can call to get to the voice menu. Also it is possible to use 2N Lift8 Audio Unit - Machine Room to enter the voice menu.1) Voice menu: after establishing connection with the central unit press 9 (service menu) and then press 3. Then all the service data including IP address will be read.    2) 2NLift8 Tool: after interconnection with the central unit via USB cabel and establishing connection with the device, you can see the status of the device and its IP address on the right side of the service tool.

Info   This FAQ describes, how to proceed an upgrade of the system 2N Lift8. As first is upgraded central unit, then the firmware is distributed automatically into all connected units. Time of the upgrade depends on the count of the units, and type of the upgrade. This operation may take some times.     As a first step install the 2N Lift8 Service Tool Version 2.x.x . This version is available for download on our web. The complete list of all available fw version is available here: Elevator systems- firmwares In the Service Tool menu: Click Device Upgrade (side panel menu)Select desired firmware versionSelect preferred language Click upgrade     Older hardware - upgrade   Some HW version of Central units can not be upgraded to higher fw version than 1.10.6, actual service tool shows only available versions for current central unit hardware.      Firmware change from 1.x.x to 2.x.x   Splitters needs special treatment for firmware upgrade between 1.x.x. and 2.x.x versions:     Set the splitters to odd addresses (lift/shaft number) for 1.x.x to 2.x.x upgrade as even addresses cannot be upgraded. Example: First upgrade the odd address splitters. Then disconnect these spliters and change the even address splitters to odd ones. After upgrade, change the odd addresses back to even ones.  The upgrading process is indicated by green and red flashing LEDs (OK and ERR respectively).         COP - signalization    The yellow and green LEDs are on (request received and connection confirmed) and the red LED is illuminated on the back side to indicate audio unit initialisation.  The yellow and green LEDs flash to indicate audio unit upgrading. The red LED on the back side is permanently on.  No LED is illuminated upon upgrade and the audio unit is ready for use.       Machine room, shaft audio units - signalization    The yellow, green and red LEDs are on (request received, connection confirmed and red LED under the glass) to indicate audio unit initialisation. Target Schematic Diagram: Preliminary Setup and Electrical System Installation:Lift 8 Central Unit : Keep the CU disconnected from the mains.Loosen the three screws on the upper cover of the CU.Move the upper cover of the CU in such a way that you can remove it.Proceed with caution while removing the cover: be careful about the drain wire connecting the cover with the CU bottom part. Do not disconnect the wire unless there is a reason to do so!Interconnect the rechargeable batteries, but do not connect them to the motherboard.Plug in the CU supply cable into a 230 V socket. Now interconnect the batteries with the motherboard using the FASTON cable (see the Fig. below). Maintain polarity.  Fireman Unit: Use the Torx 20 spanner included in the delivery to loosen the 4 screws and remove the audio unit's front cover. In our test case, there are 3 shafts and MRU as a Lobby unit for all lifts in the group place.  Address Configuration of MRU: There is a group of jumpers under the transparent front cover. Do not use any of them if the machine room is only intended for the given lift. The audio unit identifies itself as the machine room for the given lift. If the machine room is to be shared by multiple lifts, configure the corresponding pins 1–8 for the lifts to share the machine room (numbered 1–8 from left to right 1–8). Audio Unit Cop: Reconfigure the jumper on configuration jumper 12.If there is poor access to the pins, you can remove the electronics cover. Slightly loosen the four screws and shift the cover downwards. Now you can remove the cover.The first 4 pins help set the audio unit location (1 – cabin ceiling, 2 – cabin, default, 3 – under cabin, 4 – shaft bottom, 1+ 4 – cabin 2 roof, 2+ 4 – cabin 2, 3 + 4 under cabin 2). Use the jumpers for 1–4 settings. In the cabin 2 setting, set one jumper to the shaft bottom position (4) and then select the position with the other jumper (1 – cabin 2 roof, 2 – cabin 2, 3 – under cabin 2).Configure the required changes as printed on the electronics cover.If you have removed the cover, put it back in the original position and tighten the screw. Pull the terminal out of connector 1 – Audio units bus, connect the bus audio units wires and replace the terminal to connector 1. Mind the polarity.  Audio Unit Shaft : Loosen the screws on the jumper-protecting door and open the door.Set the audio unit location. See the printed label under the door for the one-cabin configuration. To set the cabin 2 audio unit, insert the jumper to the shaft bottom position (left jumper) and then select the audio unit position with the other jumper (cabin 2 roof, cabin 2, under cabin 2).Close the door and tighten the screw.  Jumper Configuration is Important to use the shaft unit as the top car unit and Pit Units ! Splitter Remove the push-in terminal board from the main bus connector and connect six wires from the CU maintaining the polarity (power + -, audio + -, data + -). See the printed figure on the splitter cover.Bus Connection between Audio Units and Splitter Interconnect the splitter and audio units using a two-wire bus maintaining polarity. Address Configuration Configure the splitter address for the given lift using a 10-position switch 0–9 (see the figure). Target Schematic Diagram:  Preliminary Setup and Electrical System Installation: Lift 8 Central Unit: Installation: Mount the Lift8 Central Unit firmly to a wall or cabinet where the power cable can reach 240v outlet.  Mount the Lift Audio unit appropriately on the lift car C.O.P. and fix the Fireman’s Unit in the architrave alongside the designated Fireman’s lift landing doors at the FSAL level.  Lift8 uses 2-wire bus technology and so two wires must be dedicated in the traveling cables to connect the lift car audio unit and similarly two wires (not supplied) must be run down from the Lift8 Central Unit to the FSAL to connect the Fireman’s audio unit, and finally the machine room audio unit should be connected via 2-wires (not supplied) to the Lift 8 Central unit as follows: Rechargeable Battery Connection and State Check: Keep the CU disconnected from the mains Loosen the three screws on the upper cover of the CU.Move the upper cover of the CU in such a way that you can remove it. Proceed with caution while removing the cover: be careful about the drain wire connecting the cover with the CU bottom part. Load these messages from a file or, in the correct format, via the 2N Lift8 Service Tool. Use the microphone connected to your PC to record the messages. Firstly you have to add a New set (1) and than you can either record your own message directly from your PC (2) or upload the file from your database (3). Every step contains screen from web interface and brief description of configuration.    Configuration of 2N Lift8  Open Lift8 tool and go to section Configuration->Parameters->Network Settings. Fill in IP address, mask and gateway for your VOIP module. SIP server is IP address of the OfficeRoute. Login and password will be created in the next steps.   Now open web interface of the OfficeRoute and go to section Telephony services->SIP Proxy and click on “Switch SIP Proxy on“.   Now go to section User Management->Users and press + button in the low right corner.   Now create user, fill in username and password (these credentials will be used in the first step). Also fill in the line number, it is recommended to use the same for all the fields. E.g. 224 for password, 224 for username and so on. Once you will finish press save in the low right corner.   Now you should be able to see the user you just created in the user list.   Now you can use credentials of created user in the first step. Please, follow the steps below what to check before you send the 2N Lift8 device for repair: Possible issues: a) device does not boot up after plug in (power source) b) device has "system led" red on the central unit c) device doesn't recognize connected units   add a) check if from batteries is powered or not. Contact support.2n.com for more details.   add b) You will need PC with latest service tools available on www.2n.com web page. Hold on reset button until all LEDs blinks once and than wait until system LED starts blinking RED, then press RESET button shortly for confirmation = you have deleted file system successfully. Then connect service tools, only upload of the firmware is available so proceed an upgrade. If that point doesn't help, contact support.2n.com   add c) Check all units on short cable one by one. Be sure that hardware addresses were set on all units correctly. Info   This FAQ describe how to set up DHCP or static IP address on the 2N Lift8 system. the must is to have 2N Lift8 VoIP module installed in the central unit. For setting you will need service tool 2N Lift8 Service Tool. This tool provides all setting of the system, enabling/disabling DHCP. As factory default DHCP client is ON.    How to get IP address If 2N Lift8 is connected to a network with DHCP server, then IP address will be assigned automatically. IP address can be find out by the service tool or via voice menu. Option with voice menu works only if the device is already configured and you know the number, where you can call to get to the voice menu. Also it is possible to use 2N Lift8 Audio Unit - Machine Room to enter the voice menu. Voice menu: after establishing connection with the central unit press 9 (service menu) and then press 3. Then all the service data including IP address will be read.2N Lift8 Tool: after interconnection with the central unit via USB cabel and establishing connection with the device, you can see the status of the device and its IP address on the right side of the service tool. Yes, you can share one Machine room audio unit for up to 8 shafts. Right-hand group of 8 jumpers: address setting. If the machine room is shared by multiple lifts, you can use one audio unit and set more addresses with the available jumpers. This is impossible with other types of audio units! Example: If the machine room audio unit is shared by shaft number 2, 4 and 6, then you have to put each from 3 jumpers into the address setting field according to the number of the shared shafts.

Current version is always available on website www.2n.com    Connection to the device Open 2N LiftIP Service tool and on the toolbar on top choose Device->Connect device.    Now connect to the device, if you don't know IP address, then use FAQ Acquiring-IP-address-of-lift-communicator-2\N-LiftIP. Fill in IP address of the device, password (default is 2n) and click on connect.      FW upgrade of communicator 2N LiftIP  Now go to section Device->Upgrade and choose desired version of FW. Set the splitters to odd addresses (lift/shaft number) for 1.x.x to 2.x.x upgrade as even addresses cannot be upgraded.   Example: First upgrade the odd address splitters. Then disconnect these splitters and change the even address splitters to odd ones. After upgrade, change the odd addresses back to even ones.

Info   This FAQ briefly describes how to increase/decrease volume on 2N Lift8 car unit in proper way without damaging it. Below you will find a few brief steps with photos which illustrates the process.    Loosen the 4 screws marked in the picture below. It is not necessary to release them!     Once the screws are loosen, you can move the front plastic plate in way that screw heads will move to the bigger holes as you can see in picture below. After that you can remove the front plate.     Once the front plate is removed, you will gain access to the potentionmeter which is marked on the picture below. With help of screwdriver you can regulate volume of the car unit. Please be careful with the screwdriver in order to not damage the PCB.
